Flavia Cortelezzi is a full professor of political economy at the University of Insubria. She conducts research and teaches in the fields of political economy, innovation, sustainable development and the relationship between economics, law and religion in the Mediterranean region. She holds a PhD in Economics and Institutions from the University of Bologna and a Master’s degree in Quantitative Economics from the Catholic University of Louvain.
She is a Research Associate at PLURIEL and at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, as well as being Deputy Director and a member of the Scientific Council of REDESM. She participates in and leads numerous national and international research projects, including the PNRR NODES programme, the international PriMED project, and several PRIN projects. She is the author of numerous publications in top-tier journals and the editor of several scientific volumes. She has received awards such as the European Journal of Islamic Finance – Best Paper Prize (2024) and the International Journal of the Economics of Business – Best Paper Prize (2021).
