Amin Elias holds a PhD in Contemporary History from the University of Le Mans (Le Mans Université, 2013). He is a specialist in the history of ideas in the Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds. He is an Assistant Professor of Contemporary History at the Faculty of Education at the Lebanese University. He teaches history, philosophy, politics, and citizenship in several Lebanese universities, and has been invited to lecture at various foreign universities and institutes, such as the École Pratique des Hautes Études (Paris, 2024, EPHE), the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris, 2022, EHESS, IISMM), the Catholic University (Milan, 2024–2025), and the Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies (Cairo, 2025).
He is currently a visiting researcher at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (UNICATT) in Milan, Italy. He works as a historical consultant for the project “Ija el-waet nehki tarikh” (“It’s time to talk history”), organized by the Lebanese Association for History in partnership with the Swiss Embassy in Lebanon and Syria.
He is a member of the board of directors of the Lebanese Association for History (LAH), as well as of the working group “Academics for Lebanon” (APL). He was selected as a member of the committee of experts responsible for developing the history curriculum at the Center for Educational Research and Development as part of the new curriculum project (CRDP, 2024–2025).
He served as president of the Lebanese Association for History from 2021 to 2024 and is the author of numerous books and scholarly articles published in Arabic, French, and English.
